'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful strike from outside the box, and his teammate promptly converted the rebound before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
